Today, I sent out Email with these files and directions. Please send this info and files to CAFA so that they can distribute it. Users may need Windows XP and updated MS Office software to run these letters. The DB is a Microsoft Access DB with all 9 members of the Land and Resource Mgt. Committee of the House in the Texas legislature. Plus I modified a letter to accept that data into a mail merge Word document. All you have to do is download each file into the same subdirectory/folder on your computer if you have Microsoft Office software. You will probably need at least Windows 2000, though it was run on Win XP. Here are the simple steps to create letters: Open Annex Letter 2005LandMgtMerg.doc in Microsoft Word on your computer. Select OK to merge records. When the doc opens, go to Tools (on the menu bar), Letters and Mailings, Mail Merge Wizard. Next, modify the letter (such as put in your own address and name in it.) In the Mail Merge pane, advance from Step 3 (at the bottom of the pane) through Step 6 and then click on the Print under the Merge section. Then print all records on 8 1/2 by 11" paper. Hand address the envelopes, or (if you know MS Word well) you can create envelopes and merge the data from the DB (database.) Be sure and mail these letters by March 9, though the exact date is not critical. However, the committee may approve or kill the bill this month. We cannot take risks by waiting in contacting committee members. HB 323 (mentioned in other Emails) will give us the power to vote "yes" or "no" on annexation. Remember, HB 323 is now in the Land and Resource Mgt. Committee. The chairperson is a sponsor of this bill. The residents of LDove should be able to decide on who, when and if we get annexed during the next 10 years. Annex Letter 2005LandMgtMerg.doc is the MS Word doc TXLegis.mdb is the MS Access DB No other files are attached. The DB also has phone numbers and a report you can print from MS Access.
