Texas organization Citizens Against Forced Annexation (CAFA)

Following discussions between Mr. Ron Thoreson of SNCA and Mrs.
Stephanie
Pivec of CAFA, it has been determined that our groups focus and
efforts are
quite similar. We learned that we are so similar that, without
each other's
knowledge, each group had previously held their own version of a
"Boston Tea
Party" to raise public awareness! We also learned that CAFA
has lobbied the
Texas State Legislature, the same direction SNCA is in pursuit of
now
towards the North Carolina State Legislature. Both groups are
grass roots,
citizen focus efforts against the un democratic and un American
annexation
laws that still exist in only a handful of states. Both groups
are non
partisan single issue (annexation) focus groups.

"CAFA is pleased to announce a formal alliance and
partnership with the
"Stop North Carolina Annexation" (
with this group in raising awareness of the issue. One of the top
priorities
of both groups is to equalize the lobbying power of the citizenry
when up
against the Municipal Leagues and other Taxpayer Funded Lobbying
efforts of
cities. The system is seriously flawed when the most powerful
lobby in the
state is a consortium of city governments funded by taxpayer
dollars working
diligently to keep city and county residents from voting. We, as
an
organization have received numerous requests from citizens in
other states
such as Ohio and Alabama. It is our goal to continue building
alliances in
states that allow such a heinous process to continue."

thrilled to be a part of this growing organization and understand
our joint
efforts will be to bring help and support to each other. We
intend to
jointly raise national attention to our cause of fighting these
unjust and
unfair annexation laws.
We hereby today, April 15, 2004, form an alliance to further each
of our
efforts to change annexation laws to protect the rights and will
of property
owners.
